Raising the Bar for Corporate Video

How TechnologyOne Built a Broadcast-Quality Studio with BirdDog PTZ Cameras

Corporate video production has changed dramatically over the past few years. What once required large broadcast budgets and complex infrastructure can now be achieved by small teams using modern IP-based workflows.

At TechnologyOne, Australia’s largest enterprise SaaS company, video production plays an important role in communicating with customers, partners, and employees across multiple markets. Webinars, product announcements, and executive communications all demand a level of quality that reflects the company’s reputation.

Inside the company’s Brisbane headquarters, Studio AV Partner Andy Green leads a production environment designed to deliver exactly that: broadcast-level quality in a corporate studio.

At the heart of the workflow are BirdDog X5 Ultra PTZ cameras.

From Broadcast Studios to Corporate Production

Green’s path to corporate production began in television.

His career started at Channel Seven in Brisbane, where he worked on live multi-camera productions. The environment required precision, speed, and reliability.

At the time, cameras were large broadcast systems costing tens of thousands of dollars each, typically integrated into complex studio infrastructures with teleprompters, control systems, and extensive cabling.

As Green moved through different studio roles and eventually began managing production environments himself, he noticed a common problem: traditional setups were often unnecessarily complicated.

Discovering a Simpler Workflow

When Green had the opportunity earlier in his career to help design a studio from the ground up, he began looking for ways to simplify the infrastructure without sacrificing production quality.

That search led him to BirdDog and NDI-based video workflows.

By using PTZ cameras connected over standard network infrastructure, he could dramatically reduce the complexity of the studio setup. Cameras could be controlled remotely, cables could run cleanly through the walls, and the entire environment became easier to manage.

By moving to an NDI-based workflow with BirdDog PTZ cameras, Green was able to reduce infrastructure complexity while still maintaining the production quality expected from professional studio environments.

The result was a streamlined studio design that delivered professional production value while eliminating much of the traditional broadcast infrastructure.

A Perfect Match at TechnologyOne

When Green later joined TechnologyOne, he quickly realised the company was already on a similar path.

During his interview he walked into the studio and immediately recognised the camera system installed in the space: BirdDog.

That familiarity allowed him to step straight into the role and begin optimizing the studio immediately.

Since joining the company, Green has continued evolving the production environment, including upgrading the system with BirdDog X5 Ultra cameras to further enhance image quality and flexibility.

Today the studio produces a steady flow of professional content used across the company’s communications, training, and customer engagement initiatives.

Designing a Modern Corporate Studio

The TechnologyOne studio is built to deliver strong production value while remaining efficient to operate.

Instead of using green screens, the set features a large LED wall backdrop, allowing presenters to interact naturally with visuals while maintaining consistent lighting and visual depth.

Multiple BirdDog PTZ cameras allow Green to pre-program camera positions for different presenters and presentation styles. Switching between these angles enables dynamic, professional productions without requiring additional camera operators.

Because the cameras operate over NDI, the entire workflow runs across standard network connections rather than traditional broadcast cabling.

The result is a studio that is both cleaner to manage and more flexible to operate.

“Running everything over NDI keeps the studio infrastructure simple and incredibly flexible.”

A Hybrid Production Environment

While the main studio relies heavily on NDI, TechnologyOne also operates a second production space designed for internal events and live presentations.

In that environment, Green uses a hybrid workflow combining SDI and IP-based video.

This approach provides the flexibility to move cameras quickly for different event layouts while still benefiting from the remote access and integration capabilities that NDI enables.

NDI also makes it possible to integrate remote participants into productions, allowing speakers to join through collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams to be brought directly into the broadcast workflow.

The result is a production environment that supports both in-person and remote contributors without compromising quality.

The Evolution of Corporate Video

One of the most significant changes Green has witnessed throughout his career is how accessible professional production technology has become.

Studio environments that once needed hundreds of thousands of dollars in broadcast equipment can now be built using modern tools that are far more affordable and easier to run.

As a result, more organisations are investing in dedicated video production spaces. Companies are recognising that high-quality video content is becoming an essential part of communication.

For Green, the goal is always the same: use technology to make better and more professional looking content. “Even if it’s corporate content, you still need to think about how to make it visually engaging,”

With the right cameras, lighting, and workflow, a small production team can deliver content that rivals traditional broadcast environments.

Why BirdDog

For Green, BirdDog cameras have proven to be a natural fit for modern production environments. They combine professional image quality with flexible connectivity and powerful PTZ control, allowing studios to operate efficiently while still delivering broadcast-level results.

For organisations building new studio environments (or upgrading existing ones), the ability to simplify infrastructure while keeping professional quality is a major advantage.

As TechnologyOne continues to expand its use of video across the organisation, the studio’s BirdDog-powered workflow provides a flexible foundation that can easily grow alongside new production demands.
