NDI® and BirdDog.
NDI® is part of the BirdDog story. From the early days of the protocol, BirdDog has been focused on taking the power of IP video and turning it into real products that production teams can use every day.
NDI® changed the way live video moves. Instead of relying only on traditional point-to-point video cabling, NDI® allows compatible devices and software to discover each other, communicate, and share video, audio, control, tally, and metadata over IP. For teams working in broadcast, live events, education, house of worship, corporate AV, content creation, and remote production, that means more flexibility, simpler connections, and workflows that can grow with the job.

NDI® is in our DNA.
BirdDog has worked with NDI® from the beginning.
We were one of the first companies to build dedicated hardware around NDI®, helping move the technology from software-based workflows into real production environments. That experience still drives everything we do today. Across the BirdDog ecosystem, our products are designed to connect in the ways real workflows demand using IP Video, HDMI, SDI, USB, and software. But if you are looking for NDI® solutions, BirdDog is exactly where you should be.
From cameras and converters to controllers and software, BirdDog products are designed to make NDI® practical, reliable, and easy to deploy.
What NDI® Lets You Do.
NDI® allows live video, audio, control, tally, and metadata to move over Ethernet networks using standard IP infrastructure. In practice, that means compatible cameras, software, controllers, displays, and production tools can discover each other and work together across a properly designed network. You can connect cameras to production software, route video between rooms, control PTZ cameras over IP, send feeds to screens, monitor sources, and bridge into HDMI or SDI workflows when needed.
Start with one camera. Add more sources. Connect more spaces. Bring in software. Decode video where you need it. Scale the workflow as your production grows.
The network matters. Bandwidth, switching, topology, multicast settings, and overall design all play a role in how well an NDI® workflow performs. But with the right setup, NDI® gives teams a flexible way to move high-quality, low-latency video over IP.

NDI® HB (Full NDI) and NDI® HX3.
Different workflows need different types of NDI®. NDI® HB is designed for very high-quality, ultra-low-latency production workflows. It typically uses more network bandwidth, making it a strong choice when maximum image quality and responsiveness are the priority.
NDI® HX3 uses more efficient compression to deliver high-quality, low-latency video at lower bitrates. That makes it ideal for many modern camera workflows, larger deployments, bandwidth-conscious networks, and flexible production environments.
Both have a place. The right choice depends on the workflow, the network, and the product.
BirdDog Makes NDI® Practical.
BirdDog products are built around real production needs.
Our cameras, converters, controllers, and software help teams capture, move, control, monitor, and manage video across IP networks while still connecting with the HDMI, SDI, USB, and software tools they already use. Whether you are building a compact studio, a live event setup, a campus-wide video system, a worship workflow, a corporate AV environment, or a broadcast production, BirdDog helps make NDI work in the real world.
NDI gives video teams the freedom of IP. BirdDog gives them the tools to use it.
