From early adopter to innovator
When it comes to corporate and entertainment live productions in the UK, Enzo Strano has been at the forefront of innovation for more than a decade. Based in London, with over 12 years of experience and hundreds of venues under his belt, he has built a reputation for pushing technology forward, always with BirdDog at the heart of his workflow.
“I’ve been supporting BirdDog for many years now, I’m one of those fanboys. I’ve converted so many companies to BirdDog, you have no idea,”
The NDI Pioneer
From the very beginning, he embraced NDI as the future of live video. While others were still clinging to SDI and HDMI, he was already building productions entirely over IP. BirdDog’s pioneering P200 cameras, the first ever PoE NDI PTZ cameras, were a revelation: “That was a big revolution. One cable for power, control, and video. It changed everything.”
Since then, BirdDog cameras have been a constant in his productions, from three-camera corporate setups to large-scale conferences. “I never used a single SDI or HDMI cable in my productions. Once you understand how video-over-IP works, there’s no going back.”
Reinventing Corporate Events
His productions are fast, efficient, and cost-effective. A typical setup with BirdDog PTZs and his custom-built workflow box can be live in just 20–30 minutes.
“I show up with a couple of laptops, a switch, and three cameras. What used to take a crew of four now takes me alone. The client saves money, setup is faster, and everything just works.”
That efficiency is especially important in the corporate sector, where hybrid and virtual events dominate. While many UK companies still resist IP workflows, he sees the tide turning: “The younger generation will replace the old-school mindset. Remote and IP-based production is a no-brainer.”
The BirdDog Advantage: X Series Evolution
The arrival of the BirdDog X Series has taken his workflow even further. “The first thing I noticed was the movement, it’s so natural compared to older robotic PTZs. And the image quality is outstanding.”
But what truly changed the game for him was wireless connectivity and built-in battery power. “I can put an X4 Ultra on a tripod, power it on, and it’s live in seconds. No cables, no hassle. For three to four hours, I don’t need a single wire. Add a power bank and I can go all day.”
By combining WiFi streaming with wired fallback, he has built dual-redundancy into his workflow. “It gives me peace of mind. If WiFi is choppy, I switch to Ethernet instantly. I always have a backup.”
Partnership and Community
Part of what keeps him loyal to BirdDog is the relationship. From the active Facebook community to direct communication with BirdDog’s leadership, he feels connected to the company. “Usually CEOs hide away, but with BirdDog you can talk to everyone. That makes a huge difference.”
Looking Ahead
With BirdDog’s X Series already transforming his productions, he is excited about what comes next. He’s even developing his own complementary product designed to integrate seamlessly with BirdDog gear. “It just works perfectly with BirdDog—it’s the ideal combination.”
For him, BirdDog isn’t just a technology provider. It’s a partner in redefining what live productions can be.
“Live productions are the future. We can’t avoid that. With BirdDog, I’m always one step ahead.”
